Lightning to play final home games
Pro basketball team hosts Nevada Pride at Cal Lutheran


The Los Angeles Lightning will make its final home appearances of the 2009 season this weekend when the Nevada Pride visits the Gilbert Sports Arena at Cal Lutheran. The games will tip-off at 7 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Lightning (12-3) have been on a roll lately, winning their last four IBL pro basketball games by an average of 147-115. Lamond Murray, a former L.A. Clipper and one of six ex-NBA players on the team, is the ninth-leading scorer in the IBL at 25.1. Ex-UCLA star Toby Bailey is averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while 7-footer Adam Parada has averaged a double-double in the last four games with 19.3 points and 14.8 rebounds.

Los Angeles went 3-0 against the Pride on May 7-9 in Las Vegas with an average score of 134-108. One child will be admitted with each adult who buys a ticket at the arena.

After completing the regular season on Tuesday at the Tacoma (Wash.) Tide, the Lightning will open the IBL playoffs on July 2 in Monroe, Wash. If they win two games, they would advance to the IBL championship on July 18 at a site to be determined.
